Riding Home

The colourful young riders of a polo club provided me with good interesting subjects for this image. The dry tree on the right framed the image nicely and created a good sense of depth. The saturated blue of the sky (achieved by colour derivation with diazochrome film — this was done pre-Photoshop days!) further enhanced the visual impact of the slide. This was a fast changing scene that needed quick reflexes to capture the image right on the dot. The slide won a Bronze Medal at the 22nd Los Angeles International Salon, USA, held in 1978.

From a vantage point, I captured this fisherman having his early morning catch while I was out on a photographic trip in Bali in 1991. One of the characteristics and important elements of photographic art is to capture the spontaneous moment of an action. This is demonstrated precisely in this image. This image was a Medal Winner of the 22nd Hong Kong Camera Club International Salon held in 1992.

Meditation

This is a study of mood of a man relaxing at the waterfall of Kota Tinggi in Johore, Malaysia. Obviously, the noisy flow of water did not disturb his peaceful meditation. The placement of both his hands further emphasized his state of mind. This image was selected for Asia Magazine’s desktop calendar titled “1987 Reflections of Peace”
