Moon Rise at Mount Cook

One of the images that I took during my first trip to New Zealand in 1994 was “Moonrise at Mount Cook”. I was commissioned then by the New Zealand Tourism Board to shoot images for the “1994 NATAS Fair” in Singapore. When I reached the hotel after a hard day’s work, I was attracted by this refreshing landscape scene of Mount Cook. The setting sun gave just a touch of light to the tip of the mountain. At the same time, the half moon was surprisingly visible in the sky too. The mood and colours of the image is what I like best about it. You really have to be at the right place at the right time to catch such scenery.

Lighted Suite

The Cockpit Hotel in Singapore was demolished not too long ago. This hotel once received the Queen of England when she visited Singapore many years ago. This image was captured during the twilight hours 30 years ago. I love the difference in colour balance (brought about by the different light sources) that gave the image an unusual touch of colour. I was also fortunate to find by luck, a lone lighted room with the curtains drawn open. This lighted room became the main attraction of the picture. This image won the Best Night Scene Award of the Kenosha International Salon,USA,held in 1985.
