National Day Celebrations

Singapore just celebrated her 40th National Day on 9th Aug 2005. During this period, buildings in our city are always well-decorated with national flags. This was an image that I captured in 1996. One of the well-decorated buildings then was the Cockpit Hotel. This picture is of historical value because the Hotel has since been demolished. In its place, high-rise residential building is currently undergoing construction.

Framed by Porte St Martin

While was visiting Paris, France in 2004, Porte St Martin was just nearby the hotel that I was staying at. I captured this image using the soft lighting in the early morning. The image is almost monochromatic but the texture of the Porte was sufficient to enhance the image visually. A small aperture (f/22) was utilized here to achieve the maximum depth of field for the image.

New Breed and Old Tree

One of the interesting images that I came across while visiting La Defense, Paris in 2004 was this pattern and design. The sticks were obviously used to guide the newly growing plants in the flower bed. I included the full-grown tree to frame the image in contrast to the growing young plants. I like the colour, lines and pattern of the whole setting.
