Montage work with colour transparencies was in vogue then as image manipulation became gradually accepted as an art form. In those pre-digital times, montage work then involved painstaking techniques of combining multiple colour-slide transparencies physically into one to achieve the desired effect.
Lip Seng experimented with and developed a personal style with colour-derivation montages during this era. His work with colour montage, which earned him the honour of being among the World’s Top Ten Colour Slide Exhibitors (in the Who’s Who of the Photographic Society of America), is showcased in this section. He continued eventually to maintain his position among the world’s top ten for 20 years (from 1969-1988).
This section also showcases the work that helped Lip Seng achieve the distinction of Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society (FRPS) (of the United Kingdom) in 1970. Three of his photographic works from this era were acquired by the National Museum of Singapore in 2008 as part of their national collection.
