Painting The Framework

Here is another example of utilizing the lines of a framework as the basic element of the composition. By montaging the original with a piece of blue Diazo film, the blank sky is turned into the saturated blue, creating a bias relief effect. This has further enhanced the visual impact of the image. The original slide won the PSA Contemporary Gold Medal of the 64th Pittsburgh International Salon, USA, held in 1977.

Follow The Footsteps

Another image that was taken at the beach of Parang Tritis, Central Java, during my first visit to Indonesia in 1980… The natural forces of the wind have created strong lines and patterns, forming the basis of the composition of this image. This is Nature at her artistic best! The beauty and serene mood of the late afternoon and the gorgeous colors are essential to this picture as well. This slide won the Cumming Medal of the 12th Paisley International Salon, Scotland held in 1981.

Temple Festival

A hustle-and-bustle scene of prayers in a temple captured from a vantage point. The shaft of light has obviously help to endow the image with a greater visual impact. This is a typical illustration of having to be at the right time and at the right place to capture a nice photograph. The slide won the 3rd prize at the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain International Slide Exhibition in 1980.
