Early Departure

One of the images that I captured during an outing with the Singapore Queenstown Camera Club in Chiangmai, Thailand in 1977, became a prize winning image. The image was awarded the PSA Gold Medal for the Best Slide of the Show of the 33rd Chicago International Salon, USA, 1980. This was also one of the 4 transparencies that won the best set Grand Prix of the 14th Algarve Photo Salon, Italy in 1988. The only colour added here is the green hue of the sandy area in the foreground. This was done using diazo film to achieve the final bias relief effect.

A Silver Lining

This is one of my transparencies that have won prestigious awards.

The 22nd Paisley International Salon, Scotland held in 1991 received 3413 entries from 858 entrants of 48 countries in the General Section. I was fortunate to be awarded the “Glasgow Airport Flight Award” (a beautiful crystal set ) for the best slide depicting flight. This image is actually a double exposure of two transparencies. Careful selection of the appropriate aperture for the two different transparencies during duplication is essential to match the images in proper order.

Pelican In Flight

In 1986, I was invited as a guest speaker of the Australia Photographic Society Annual Convention, Adelaide, South Australia. I had the opportunity to visit Kangaroo Island during the pre-convention tour. I remembered taking this shot on the island before the actual tour programme started in the morning. As they say: The early bird catches the worm! I used a shutter speed of 1/250 sec with a Telyt 250mm lens on my Leicaflex SL. The image was captured on Kodachrome film.

This image won me another PSA Gold Medal for the Best Slide of the Show during the 26th 35mm International Salon of Photography held in Hong Kong in 1988. This is one of three PSA Gold Medals that I had ever won from the same international salon.
