Team Work

The villagers of Nusa Penida Island and Lembogan Island (in the backdrop of this image) depend on the daily supplies from Kusamba, Bali. The boatmen are seen here trying to maneuver the boat into the water in order to load the goods. Such tasks depend on the effort of the team. Soft lighting in the early morning provided a good setting for the image. The splash from the water emphasizes the peak of the action which further enhanced the visual impact of this picture.

Setting Out To An Offering

Even after many visits, I am still fascinated by Lake Bedugul, Bali, Indonesia. This picture was captured after taking “Another Nice Day”. We were fortunate to have the Balinese to dress up in proper costumes for our photographic outing at the annual event of the Nusantara Photographic Club, Indonesia in October 2003. The lighting was beautiful and the colours were gorgeous for this particular occasion. Some may say that the lighting is too harsh, but I think it is superb, providing good details in the shade.

Only One Is Free

My last outing in Bali, October 2003 was another successful one (photographically!). Besides photographing other subjects, I came across this interesting image. Cockerels in Bali are reared for cockfight and are considered as precious commodities! Since cockfight was declared illegal, they can now only be seen during the temple festivals. Obviously, this freed one was not one of those that was reared for the cockfight.
