Mount Merapi (Mountain of Fire) is the most active volcano in Central Java, Indonesia and has erupted 68 times since 1548. The volcano is very close to Yogyakarta, and thousands of people live on the flanks of the volcano, with villages as high as 1700m above sea level. The eruptions recently caused a disaster to the surrounding area. I had an opportunity of visiting this area in July. You have to pay 5000 rupiah in order to enter the site. Obviously, this is one of the new attractions if you have visited Yogyakarta recently.

On the 29th September 2006, though the actual CAKolosal would not start until 6:30 pm, thousands of dancers already gathered in front of the Tanah Lot temple as early as 4:00 pm. As seen here, one of main dancers also arrived early at the location. Obviously, the other dancers were very exciting to welcome him. I managed to capture this decisive moment at a vantage point. Watch out for more images of CAKolosal to be posted here.
