传灯The Light Transference Ceremony

传灯 The Light Transference Ceremony
传灯 The Light Transference Ceremony, one of the Vesak Day celebrations at Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery is the offering of light. That reminds us of the illuminating brightness of wisdom, which dispels the darkness of ignorance on the path towards Enlightenment. This urges us to seek the light of ultimate wisdom.
This image was captured more than twenty years ago in the Monastery. I remember I was searching an image for the “Singapore To-Day” publication. This is another image in my series of “Down The Memory Lane…….Singapore In the nineties….Image No.42”.
I wish all the bud-dish friends, a Happy Vesak Day!

SAF Day

SAF Day
The first Armed Forces Day was celebrated on 1 July 1969 with a grand parade and march-past at the Jalan Besar Stadium. July 1 was first celebrated as Armed Forces Day in 1969.
I captured this image in the seventies at the west side of Singapore. It was quite a display to watch from the spectator stand. (Image no. 41………..Down The Memory Lane……….Singapore In The Seventies..)
