This is a study of mood of a man relaxing at the waterfall of Kota Tinggi in Johore, Malaysia. Obviously, the noisy flow of water did not disturb his peaceful meditation. The placement of both his hands further emphasized his state of mind. This image was selected for Asia Magazine’s desktop calendar titled “1987 Reflections of Peace”
The blue diazo colour derivation added here has enhanced the saturation of the blue sky in the original transparency. The treatment has also given the (originally) white wall of the building a much lighter hue of blue. The strong contrast with the colourful robes of two little monks enhanced the visual impact of the entire image.
This was one of the many images that I captured in Thailand during my visit in 1978. It was also an award-winning slide of the 13th Torreon International Salon, Mexico held in 1980.
This is another version of an image of a terrace rice field that I captured in Bali during my first visit there in 1980. The main elements of the picture are the composition, lines and the colours. The slide won the FIAP Gold Medal of the Photo Travel Section of the 43rd Mississippi Valley International Salon held in 1990.
