Arts For Sale
In 1955, the Bandung Conference, the first Asian-African Conference was held in Bandung. Head of states representing twenty-nine countries and colonies from Asia and Africa attended the Conference. The conference venue was the Gedung Merdeka, the former Concordia Society building.
After my involvement of the INDONESIA PHOTOWEEK II – 2008 Seminar at the Gedung Merdeka, I had the opportunity of strolling around the Historical Asia-Afrika Street of Bandung.
I realize that this area actually is very colourful and vibrant even on a Sunday morning.
As shown here, one of art shop proprietor is busy displaying his collections for the sale of the day.
Obviously, Bandung renowned in the large stock of Dutch colonial architecture; most notably the tropical Art Deco architectural style, has a great influence in the art development of the city.
