Life Is But A Walking Shadow


“Life Is But A Walking Shadow” … This is actually a quote from William Shakespeare’s Macbeth which one of my old friends would used to quote very often whenever he was in a philosophical mood. This became a theme for some of the silhouette pictures I took with my Powershot G3. This particular one was taken at Darling Harbour, Sydney, Australia in September last year. I like the effect of the clean silhouettes juxtaposed against the patterned pavement.

Damselflies have always been good macrophotography subjects for me especially since they can be found in abundance at the Botanical Gardens in Singapore. Alas, the beautiful ponds where this insect can be easily found are undergoing upgrading works at the moment. I took this picture in March earlier this year with a newly acquired macro zoom lens. A reflector was used to provide foreground fill-in to highlight the details within the damselfly.

Trishaw riders ferry tourists around the streets of Singapore usually in the cool evenings, giving their passengers a glimpse of the city at night.
