Row, Row, Row Your Boat…

Row, Row , Row Your Boat...
More action from the Singapore River Regatta over the weekend…

Even though the weather may have not been at its best of late during the rainy season in Singapore, it helped at least in making the river waters nice, dark and green. The dark grey-green (enhanced with a polarizing filter) contrasted nicely with the action of the oarsmen as they paddled and rowed their dragon boat in a frenzy to outdo their competitors.

“Are We There Yet?”

"Are We There Yet?"
I wasn’t too hopeful when I headed down to the Singapore River Regetta this afternoon with Dad, Mum and CY in tow after lunch. The skies were looking dark and forbidding and it had rained earlier in the day.

All this feeling of inhibition was let go immediately when I got there, though. Although a few drops of rain did try to break through the cloudy skies, I was soon absorbed taking pictures from a nice vantage point on Elgin Bridge over the Singapore River. All in all, I spent close to 4 hours at the area taking shot after shot of the dragon-boat races taking place then, while putting up with an extremely sarcastic riverside commentator / race starter, who nitpicked non-stop on the participating dragon-boaters. This is one of the favourite shots from the session… More to follow 🙂

The Shadowy Shopper

The Shadowy Shopper
The original intention of travelling down to Chinatown last weekend was to take pictures of volunteers giving old folks free haircuts. However, the lighting situation did not permit much photography of my original intended subjects. Instead, I went around the rest of Chinatown looking for pictures.

I noticed this particular scene of a curious morning shopper looking through the array of knick-knacks on display in this road-side market stall. While I was snapping candid shots of her browsing through the stall contents, she decided to bend down to peer at some item that caught her eye. What caught my eye more though, was the interesting shadow she cast in the early morning sidelight!
