Walk, Stand And Sit

Walk, Stand And Sit
Another shot taken during Christmas Eve…

Long-exposure shots of crowds of people are one my of favourites because of the unpredictable nature of taking them. Some element of luck has to be present to catch an interesting shot. The above was taken at the steps leading up to Marina Square from the Esplanade Theatres. The steps are a throughfare for the crowds especially during the weekends and holiday seasons. I managed to get a combination of people walking, standing and sitting in this montage of three images taken with a tripod.

Silent Night, Holy Night (in Singapore)

Silent Night, Holy Night (in Singapore)
I finally fulfilled one of my “wants” (on my About page) and got myself a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 L lens… 🙂 With both the 17-40 f/4 L and 70-200 f/4L, as well as a 50mm f/1.8, I think I should be well-equipped to cover most of the photography I enjoy (all except a flash unit and a dedicated macro lens for completion’s sake).

The above was taken on Christmas Eve. Typical nightscene from Singapore except from a different vantage point, this time from the newly renovated and refurbished Marina Mandarin Hotel. All that I needed to complete the shot then was a festive fireworks display! Too bad this will be reserved for next week’s New Year’s Eve countdown instead.

Happy Holidays 2005!

Happy Holidays 2005!
I haven’t gone down to Orchard Road to take this year’s Christmas light-up… so here’s an image from the Christmas of 2003 to spread some cheer to you! 🙂 Here’s wishing everyone an enjoyable holiday season and a peaceful year ahead!

The above picture was taken when I first got my Powershot G3. Taking a short-cut through the Fullerton Hotel after a nightscene shoot at the Esplanade/Merlion Park, we (my dad and I) chanced upon this display of “Christmas presents” in the lobby. I was attracted by the bright warm colours of the display and took this shot.
