And Then The Stars Came Raining Down…

And Then The Stars Came Raining Down...
As promised from my earlier post, some pictures from the 2006-countdown fireworks 🙂

Singaporeans are typically fireworks-mad 😛 You can expect hordes of them to arrive whenever a fireworks display is on. On New Year’s Eve, the roads were typically jammed (including the highway overlooking the Esplanade Waterfront) with cars, most of them illegally parked. It would have been ideal to have gotten some nice cityscape to complement the firework pictures. The closest I could get to the fireworks was from the Marina Park though, with the treetops acting as my only foreground. Much of the picture-taking was just clicking the shutter (with a cable-release, with the camera tripod-mounted) with differing shutter speed/aperture/ISO settings, and hoping for the best 😛

Happy 2006!

Happy 2006!
A very Happy New Year to everyone 🙂

Although we did not manage to make it down to the Esplanade waterfront for the New Year countdown (we weren’t brave enough to face the crowds), we did manage to catch the gorgeous fireworks display from the Marina Park instead (pictures to follow soon). After the display, we decided to try out another sort of “lightshow” of our own; I have seen such “sparkler” shots before but have not yet had the chance to try taking them myself. Using a ten-second exposure, two separate shots of “Happy” and “2006” were made. These have been combined for our New Year greeting to you. May you have a blessed and fruitful 2006 ahead 🙂

The Esplanade Waterfront

The Esplanade Waterfront
Thousands of Singaporeans will once again converge at this area tonight to ring in the New Year with a spectacular display of fireworks. Taking pictures in the area is never easy, given the crowds as well as the closure of roads around the area. I haven’t decided whether if I should make a trip down tonight yet… This was taken one week ago on Christmas Eve.
