Colourful Perch

Colourful Perch
From the Botanical Gardens… on a rather lacklustre day for photography. Some heavy post-processing done in Lightroom 3 to bring out the colours. I am quite happy with the sharpness on the dragonfly I managed to get with Live View manual-focusing on a tripod.

A Delicate Perch

A Delicate Perch
Taken at the Botanical Gardens. Conventionally, I would have opted for a vertical composition for this but there were some distracting elements surround this shot (and the dragonfly wasn’t going to wait forever for me to adjust my composition!). In the end, I opted for a bolder use of negative space to the right of the subject.

My next post will be at least 10 days from now… will be on vacation again. Hoping to bring you some new pictures when I get back!

A Touch of Zen

A Touch of Zen
Dragonflies are in abundance by the reservoirs in Singapore. The last time I took one by the reservoir was this favourite of mine at MacRitchie Reservoir. I have been looking for a chance to take something along similar lines. Though not as clean in composition as my previous attempt, I like this one because of the reflections of the dragonfly and twigs. I only wished that the dragonfly was more colourful! In this instance, I had to boost the saturation on the dragonfly considerably to get the final effect.
