Man And Beast
One of my favourite pictures from the outing we had at Savana on our last day in the Tenggar Caldera…
Dad’s friends arranged for 2 horsemen to join us at Savana during our early morning outing. They rode over the Savana while the rest of us started clicking pictures. Tired after all the riding, the horsemen (and their horses) decided to take a break. No breaks for us photographers though, as we continued to snap away. While many opted for a wider composition, I decided to make use of the longer reach of my 70-200mm to capture this. I like the juxtaposition of the man versus beast as well as the bokeh effect I got due to the narrow depth of field. I am really loving the sharpness of this lens: I can actually count the individual eye lashes on the horse’s eyelid in the full-sized original file 🙂
I really like this one too. The framing is excellent, putting some grass in the middle and then getting the DOF spot on. I don’t really like the colours though but i doubt u can help it. Really cool shot! i wonder if he is communicating with the horse. =)
Excellent backlighting shot and I agree that the framing is excellent as well (and I do like the colors).
Just curious, were the horse and rider really nose to nose, or is that an effect of the long lens?
Thanks James and jcyrhs 🙂
James: They were nose-to-nose. In fact, I got one shot of the guy kissing the horse’s nose, but I liked this one better for the slight separation between man and beast.
