Magenta Lily
Six more days till the exams…
I am looking forward to visit the Botanical Gardens some time soon after I finish my exams. This particular picture was taken way back in 2003 when I first started dabbling with RAW with my Powershot G3. The unusual colours are not due to any filters or post-processing (I made a check on the original RAW file just to be absolutely sure!). Rather, an almost overcast day played tricks with the lighting and colour, giving the lily pads a dull grey colour, which was wonderful in making the water lily stand out in the composition.
Superb composition on this one Eng Loy. The colour is fantastic!
wonderful. I love the colors.
One request, could you give EXIF info when posting the photo. Just to satisfy the curiousity of newbies like me. ๐
Thanks Paul and ashwin ๐
ashwin: I did consider adding in EXIF for my posts previously. And some of my posts do occasionally carry EXIF information. Although I think there’s an EXIF plug-in for WordPress, I think the files I post up (using “Save for Web” in Photoshop 7) have their EXIF information stripped during the save process. One possible solution I can think of is to do what you have been doing for the pictures on your blog: include the EXIF in the picture border. What action/macro are you using to do that? Care to share?
Gorgeous picture. Te color of the bloom is spectacular and I love the reflection below
my first impression was; what a clean photo…
The clear lines of both the lilies and the reflection locked my attention. Great job! I should visit the gardens some time after my examssss too! haha. btw, what time do you normally frequent these places? 8am or before? …or after?
Thanks guys ๐
jcyrhs: I normally visit the Botanical Gardens between 8am to 11am. I have tried the evenings too from about 4.30pm to 6.30pm although I still prefer the mornings.
ashwin: I found a script to automate the inclusion of EXIF into my picture border. However, the script doesn’t work too well with PS7. All I managed to extract was the camera model used with the shutter/aperture/ISO info listed as “undefined”.
Gorgeous shot Engloy! Its so smooth and well.. just lovely ๐ Good luck with your exams!
Not sure what I can add here … it seems to have already been said. Excellent shot!
Perty!
