Intersection
I finally gave in to the lures of B&H and bought a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L lens from them 🙂 This is the first time I did an overseas lens purchase from the Internet, and am I impressed by their service!
The package arrived by UPS shipment tonight and eager me tested the lens immediately with some long exposure shots on the traffic intersection opposite my apartment. I will be testing the lens more thoroughly this weekend (*pray for good weather*) 🙂
Congrats on the new lens. Nice flare from the streetlights. Is it cheaper to buy from B&H compared to getting the lens in Singapore?
Thanks, Paul. I did my sums prior to the purchase. Factoring in the conversion rate, shipping costs, GST (UPS pays import customs at Changi) and UPS import fees (S$10), the lens is almost 15% cheaper than if I had bought it from the shops here in Singapore. In fact, I bought a B+W multi-coated UV filter for the lens along with the lens, at a total price that would have only bought me the lens alone in Singapore. 😀
The lens also came with Canon’s international warranty. So, I am not worried about after-sales servicing. B&H actually sell “grey” sets too. These are about US$50 cheaper but that means having to send the lens back to them in the US should service be required.
