Enjoying Their Day Out

Enjoying Their Day Out
A break from the recent Icelandic snow pictures… This was taken during our visit to the Gower Peninsula in Wales in late February. I was just about to take a snapshot of CY using the Worm’s Head landmark at Rhossili Bay when these two ladies and their dog decided to seat themselves right in front of us! I have no regrets about that though, for less than a minute after, I was rewarded with this humourous candid scene 😛

Icelandic horses are a special breed of small horses well known for their spirited temperaments. According to Wikipedia, they have few diseases in their native country and were developed from ponies taken to Iceland by Scandinavian settlers in the 9th and 10th centuries. The ones that we saw (when our driver stopped by the roadside for us to take a look at them) were certainly tame, even in the half-blizzard that was brewing!
