Taken on vacation trips
We visited this place called Savana on our third day at the Mount Bromo area. I cannot find any references to Savana online (except for a couple of Indonesian websites written in Bahasa Indonesia). Looking up Google Earth, I came up with a satellite view of the area. I have marked what I believe should be the true location of Savana. The sunrise we got at Savana was well worth the visit to this extremely windy and cold location.
More rustic scenes from a village in Ceromo Lawang… The quality of the light during the “golden hours” in this area was fantastic. I love the rim-light/highlight effect that can be achieved in these hours, giving life to the subjects I wanted to capture.
Mount Bromo decided to put up a show for us on our second evening there, spewing sulphuric fumes as the sun descended over the landscape. The evening sun created nice saturated colours, giving a nice golden hue to the landscape and the plumes of smoke. Dad has a slightly different composition of the above: his includes Mount Sumeru in the background, which was also spewing volcanic fumes.
