A Night Glow Feast

A Night Glow Feast
I had high photographic hopes for the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta when I made plans to visit during my break from work in the UK. The recent nice summer weather in London was unfortunately let down by the fierce England riots, which cast initial doubts over our travel plans. When we did finally arrive in Bristol, the weather became drizzly with white cloudy skies, putting a dampener on my hopes of capturing scenes of hot air balloons against a blue summer sky. Thankfully, the atmosphere at Saturday’s night glow event made up for the gloomy weather which only cleared up when we left Bristol for London on Sunday afternoon.

Memories of The Shanghai World Expo 2010

Memories of The Shanghai World Expo 2010
During my last trip to the Shanghai World Expo 2010 in June this year, I didn’t get many chances to take nice pictures apart from holiday snapshots of myself and CY — I went with minimal equipment (just a 7D body and a 17-40mm lens) then because of the worry of the long queues and crowds, and also because of the horribly gloomy but humid weather then. Having a quick opportunity to visit the Expo on the second last day before it closed on 31 October 2010 (during my conference trip to Shanghai last week), I managed to get some nice evening shots of the event for posterity 😉

The Glittering City

The Glittering City
Continuing from the previous post from Marina Bay Sands… I was very disappointed when the empty reclaimed land at Marina Bay (facing the Singapore financial district) gave way to construction cranes. That spot (accessible by car only after taking an off-road journey over a grass field) was excellent for taking night-scenery pictures of the area, such as this picture. Thankfully, the building that stands there now provides an equally if not more stunning view of the same area. Having better equipment now also helps, of course 🙂
