Dragon’s Roar

As part of the celebrations of the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, the longest dragon lantern in the world was unveiled by the Singapore River. I have actually wanted to take pictures of it more than 2 weekends ago but never got down to it partly because I was turned off by the large crowd of people visiting it. I finally found an angle eventually that not only minimised the number of passers-by cluttering the shot, but also allowed the full length of the dragon to be captured. The only disadvantage was there wasn’t much space to set up a tripod; this shot was finally taken handheld.

Zig-Zag Under The Esplanade Bridge

I was having dinner under the Esplanade Bridge yesterday evening while out celebrating the Chinese Mooncake Festival. While waiting for dinner to be served, the zig-zag patterns formed by the Bridge, the Merlion Park waterfront and the foreground barrier caught my eye. Mounting my camera on a tripod, I captured a 10-second exposure of the scene. The long exposure gave the water and reflections a milky, dreamy feel. By coincidence, a bumboat lit with lights passed by while I was taking the picture. This created the bright streaks that you see next to the lit waterfront in the distance.
