At long last, I finally made a trip back to the Botanical Gardens this morning for a much longed-for photographic outing. The next few posts will feature some of the pictures (with the usual captions/titles courtesy of darling CY) I took during my short 2.5-hour session…

For this visit, my dad and I centered our photography around the Symphony Lake. With brilliant weather and lighting, there was just so much potential photographic material available to us. I came across this almost abstract and zen-like shot which was very helped by the interesting pattern of lines cast by the real and the reflected.

This will be my last update for this week as I head up to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, tomorrow for my exams on Tuesday…

Another shot from the old archives, this particular one was taken at Sembawang Park in 2003 with my old G3. The sunlight was brilliant then, highlighting the leaves of this weed that was growing along the bark of a tree. I had a little help in preventing the loss of details in the bark: my dad was holding on to a reflector, which help to highlight the bark details nicely.

BTW, as requested by ashwin, my pictures will have accompanying EXIF information from now on 🙂 (I managed to hack together a script that works nicely on PS7 for this purpose after doing some ‘Googling’. If you are interested in getting it, do send me a contact!)

Six more days till the exams…

I am looking forward to visit the Botanical Gardens some time soon after I finish my exams. This particular picture was taken way back in 2003 when I first started dabbling with RAW with my Powershot G3. The unusual colours are not due to any filters or post-processing (I made a check on the original RAW file just to be absolutely sure!). Rather, an almost overcast day played tricks with the lighting and colour, giving the lily pads a dull grey colour, which was wonderful in making the water lily stand out in the composition.
