Setting Skies Over The City

Setting Skies Over The City
One of the very first pictures I took for 2009… from the comfort of my dining room balcony 🙂

Returning home from my first day of work in 2009, I came across this dramatic cloudscape over the Singapore city skyline. A quick rush for my camera and tripod, and I was shooting away. This particular shot has been post-processed in Lightroom. I thought that the monochromatic treatment brought out the contrasts of light and shadow much more effectively than if the shot had been processed in colour.

Frozen In Time

Frozen In Time
One of the satisfactions that I get from photography is when I am successful in making the seemingly mundane look interesting. I am glad to come across this essay on the web today which shares a similar opinion. The idea of creating something interesting from the mundane was also what I had in mind when I captured this shot almost 2 years ago during my trip to Switzerland. Hope that I’m successful here 😛 The ice must have been frozen for ages on the Alps. The thought of actually seeing water that has been frozen for what might have been millennia was certainly mind-boggling.
