La Ville-Lumière

La Ville-Lumière
Paris has many nicknames, but its most famous is “La Ville-Lumière” (“The City of Light” or “The Illuminated City”), a name it owes first to its fame as a centre of education and ideas during the Age of Enlightenment, and later to its early adoption of street lighting. — Wikipedia

What would a visit to the City of Light be without a visit to the top of the Eiffel Tower at dusk? We were lucky to get clear views when we made our way up that evening as the summit was shrouded in fog earlier in the day.

A Postcard From Paris

A Postcard From Paris
We are back from a short trip to Paris, France, courtesy of a cheap last-minute deal I found online just a couple of weeks ago. Travelling to Paris via the Eurostar was a breeze. The weather was nice and cool although the generally cloudy conditions meant that good photographic opportunities were harder to come by. I waited the whole morning on the rooftop terrace of the Galeries Lafayette (at Boulevard Haussmann) for the fog to clear so that I could get an unobstructed view of the Eiffel Tower. It was only after lunch that I finally got the light and view that I was hoping for.
