The Shadowy Shopper

The Shadowy Shopper
The original intention of travelling down to Chinatown last weekend was to take pictures of volunteers giving old folks free haircuts. However, the lighting situation did not permit much photography of my original intended subjects. Instead, I went around the rest of Chinatown looking for pictures.

I noticed this particular scene of a curious morning shopper looking through the array of knick-knacks on display in this road-side market stall. While I was snapping candid shots of her browsing through the stall contents, she decided to bend down to peer at some item that caught her eye. What caught my eye more though, was the interesting shadow she cast in the early morning sidelight!

ARPS #9 – All Lined Up

Taken at the Changi Jetty, Singapore, just before the old jetty was rebuilt. I like the contrast in colours between the boats and the reflection of greenery in the water. The early morning sunlight also helped to add a golden touch to the saturated colours of the shot.

Ruralistic scenes of boats by the sea used to be the subject of the day whenever I visited this area. As it is now, a new modern harbour terminal stands next to the old jetty, and the boats are located slightly farther away, making such shots more difficult to take.

Notice anything new here? 🙂

I came across the free blogger tool WordPress a couple of days ago at Photoblogs.org. I have never used the PHP functionality of my webhosting service so far. The friendly documentation and the support forums at WordPress got me hooked on trying the PHP-based software out on my photoblog. A few quick configurations and I managed to get my former Blogger posts (with comments and all) migrated with no problems. Exploring WordPress further, I came across the excellent photoblog template at Razzi’s Photolog and have since adapted it for use here. I like the stronger organization and categorization tools WordPress gives me compared to Blogger. The other big benefit is of course being able to log in from my workplace (since the Blogger domain has been blocked by my workplace server)!

The above picture was taken at the MacRitchie Reservoir boardwalk more than a year ago. I love the sense of peace and tranquility the picture evokes 🙂
